If you’re new to meditation though, you should experiment with different types of sitting postures till you find the one that works best for you.  You’re going to spend a lot of time in it, and it’s important that you choose a style that best accommodates your body.  I still prefer half lotus and only use a seiza bench when my knee is acting up.
